Hand Therapy

at Advanced Spine and Sports Therapy Center

Our hand therapy centers specialize in the treatment of the hand and arm for acute injuries, work-related injuries, repetitive strain injuries, post surgical care and degenerative diseases, such as arthritis. We work closely with the hand surgeons and other area physicians and providers, communicating regularly about the patient’s progress.

Our therapists are board certified Hand Therapy Specialists with the enhanced skills necessary to provide expert comprehensive care. They are members of the professional organization, American Society of Hand Therapists, which promotes the profession and offers detailed information to patients as well as other health care professions about Hand Therapy.

Comprehensive treatment includes:

• same day customized splints; and/or assistance in sizing and don/doff procedures for pre-fabricated splints
• patient education including etiology and prognosis for diagnosis, ergonomics for work/computer site, prevention techniques designed to lessen reoccurrence of repetitive injuries, as well as work strategies for those returning to their job
• instructions in individualized on-site and in home exercise programs, which are diagnosis specific
• strategies for maximizing independence with self care, work and avocational tasks
• modalities and manual therapy for pain and/or swelling/scar management
